Year 1 have had a busy start to the Spring Term!

In Maths, we have started our unit on place value to 20. We have learnt about teen numbers and explored how they are made with 10 and some more.

In Writing, we were introduced to an illusive character on the loose… the Gruffalo! He destroyed our library so our task was to warn the rest of the school about this beast. We wrote warning posters with descriptions of the Gruffalo, carefully choosing a range of adjectives and verbs. We even included some top tips on how to stay safe!

In Design and Technology, we have learnt about simple mechanisms. We created spinning compasses, levers and a Gruffalo themed slider! We will soon be designing and making our own mechanisms!
