Nursery Blog 2
At the nursery we have been exploring the festival ‘Diwali’. Diwali is the festival of light celebrated by Hindu’s and other Indian religions. It is often celebrated with an array of beautiful fireworks. We have been creating dance moves to instrumental Bombay music using our dancing scarves and wrist bells to help us explore a sequence of movements. We loved making the bells jingle while moving them over our heads like we were drawing a rainbow. We have looked at a variety of Diwali pictures and explored wearing a Sahri.
Did you notice our very bubbly playground? In the garden we have been making bubbly marks and using the paint to create marks in our bubbles. We have developed our gross motor movements and muscles using our shoulders and elbows to manoeuvre our large brushes.
During our fireworks week we had so much fun. We pretended to be a firework holding our dancing scarves in both hands before we said ‘1, 2, 3 Fireworks go… weeeeeeee! Bang!!! Boom! Whoosh! Crackle! Pop, pop, pop!’’ This was so much fun. Our three year old friends made a firework fruit kebab. We encouraged everyone to smell, lick and nibble a variety of fruits before deciding whether we liked the taste and wanted to thread it onto a sparkly kebab. We tasted pineapple, mango, melon, strawberry, banana and grape. This activity continued the development of our senses. We thought of words to describe the taste of these fruits, our favourite words were ‘sweet’ and ‘sour’. Our two year old friends explored making firework marks using bright paints and a variety of materials. We love to engage in paint especially when we can use the special bright colours and then wash our hands, we love the taps!😁
