KS2 panto mayflower blog - 16/12/22

On Thursday and Friday this week, KS2 got an early Christmas present and got to watch Goldilocks and the Three Bears Panto at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. We really enjoyed all of the songs, especially the twelve days of Christmas remix. All of the children were singing along “Five toilet roles! Four bags of chips, three toy boats, two favourite shirts and a fairy at the top of the tree”. It had lots of fun mistakes going on as well which was very funny to watch, Jason Donovan even broke a light on stage! There were lots of pun-ny moments for all teachers and students to enjoy.

Although all of the performance was amazing, there were 4 amazing acts! The first was two roller bladders, they were spinning round in circles so fast! The second was a man who was balancing on a ball on a high stage, it was incredible to see his nerve and focus. It must have taken a lot of determination and perseverance to get to that point. The final act was by the main performer Joey himself! He went onto a motorbike, up into the air and then he magically disappeared and re-appeared on stage. It was magic; we were all wondering how he managed such an amazing trick.

During the interval we all had vanilla ice cream and it was delicious. It was nice to have a discussion about the show and how awesome the performance was. What was really special was that we got lots of compliments from the staff and CEO of the Mayflower theatre. The CEO thanked us for cleaning up our ice creams and being so well behaved whilst watching the performance and being polite to other audience members. The children were spoken of highly by the staff for being so polite. This was lovely feedback to end of a wonderful half term. It was a great opportunity to inspire us all and see what performing is all about! It was a fantastic afternoon and we are grateful to all of the teachers that made it possible for us! Let’s hope we get another one soon!
