Spring 2 in Year 3:
The sun has been shining and the birds have been singing as we have been learning all about the wonderful world of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane in our writing lessons. The children explored the purpose of diaries and worked hard to publish their own fantastic pieces of writing. Now, we have begun crafting narratives inspired by Edward’s journey. This is a book that the children have really enjoyed exploring for both our Writing units and also parts of our Guided Reading.
However, there has also been a focus on poetry in Guided Reading. We’ve been having fun with this, studying Please Mrs Butler and enjoying the rhythm and humor of its verses.
Over in Maths, we have started learning about mass and capacity, using scales to weigh objects and develop our measuring skills. The hands-on activities have made for some exciting lessons!
In DT, we are exploring pneumatic mechanisms and designing our very own toys. The creativity and problem-solving skills on display have been amazing!
It has been a busy and exciting half term so far, and we can’t wait to see what the children achieve next!
