Year 2 Phonics Workshop

Year 2 parents and pupils enjoyed a Pip and Pap Phonics workshop together, reading Purple Phase Book 20 "The Tournament" together!

They recapped the graphemes: 

/or/ spelt 'al', 'augh', 'our', 'oor', 'oar', 'ore' 

/ar/ spelt 'al'

/ear/ spelt 'ere'

/air/ spelt 'ere', 'ear' or 'are'

/oo/ spelt 'ui'

/ur/ spelt 'ear' or 'or'

/sh/ spelt 'ssi', 'si', 'ti' or 'ci'.

This book focuses on a tennis tournament - pupils read the story to their parents and answered questions about what they had read. In the story, Ruzz accidentally gets hurt during the match! Pupils and parents talked about how pupils may find themselves in similar situations in sport, or on the playground and what to do. 

They then made their own strawberries together - no tennis match is complete without strawberries and cream! Don't they look fabulous?
