Year 6 Devon Adventure:
Day 4
Tired faces appeared at breakfast this morning - a true sign that our days have been jam packed with fun. Breakfast today was a fantastic continental which offered a range of pastries and fresh fruit alongside pancakes drizzled in syrup. They devoured it quickly and empty plates were seen all round.
After breakfast, we began to think about packing in preparation for our departure tomorrow. The rooms were inspected by the centre staff and there was anguish on many faces as the scores were announced. The final results will be revealed tomorrow morning.
This morning's activity was onsite where we took on the challenge of the climbing wall. All the children gave it their all while facing this challenge and pushed themselves to their personal limits. They scaled the wall at a rapid pace, showing great resilience - all with a beaming smile on their faces. Many children also chose to abseil down the tower, pushing themselves over the edge (quite literally) and navigating their way back down to the ground.
After lunch, we took part in our favourite water-based activity - surfing!. We loaded up the minibuses and made our way down to the local beach. The sun shone on us as we paddled in the water and tried our best to catch the waves. Many children were successful but we can confirm that more time was spent in the water than on the boards.
Tonight we enjoyed a BBQ. We loved tucking into burgers, hot-dogs and chicken drumsticks: dessert was a delicious chocolate muffin. Afterwards, we took part in a scavenger hunt which became very competitive. We are eager to find out the winners at tomorrow’s morning briefing.
As we prepare for our departure tomorrow, we reflect on what has been a fantastic week. We've achieved new skills, we've conquered fears, we've tried new things but most of all we've had an unforgettable experience and one that all the children and staff will cherish forever. The children's behaviour has been respectful and polite and they have represented themselves, the school and their parents in the most impeccable way.
We are very proud of all of them.
We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow and to share our fond memories of the week.
