ECO adventures at Mansel park!

Creating Leaf Mould for Compost

The children took to the school field, armed with rakes and plenty of enthusiasm, to gather fallen leaves. These leaves are now packed into special bins where nature will work its magic, breaking them down into nutrient-rich leaf mould. By spring, this will be ready to nourish our garden beds—proof that recycling can be as simple and natural as giving leaves a second life!

Turning Tractor Tyres into Planters

Repurposing old materials is a fantastic way to reduce waste, and our team of young eco-warriors showed just how creative they could be! Working together, they helped move heavy tractor tyres into place, transforming them into planters. These will soon be bursting with flowers, herbs, and vegetables—a testament to the power of teamwork and a commitment to sustainability.

Why It Matters

These activities are more than just fun—they’re teaching students valuable lessons about environmental responsibility and the joys of working with nature. By participating in these projects, the children are developing a deeper understanding of where food comes from, how ecosystems function, and the importance of reducing waste through creative reuse.

What’s Next?

With the groundwork laid, we’re looking forward to planting a variety of crops and flowers in the months ahead. Our eco journey doesn’t stop here, and we can’t wait to see the fruits of our labour bloom in the spring.
